Robert D. Besser, Director of the Center for Congregational Excellence, Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church
Reverend Besser’s hometown is Conroe, Texas. He is married to Rev. Alicia Coltzer-Besser and he has one child, Barrett Besser, who is 24 years old and is a Police Officer for the City of Kilgore, Texas and The Texas Army National Guard. Reverend Besserattended Sam Houston State, and received his BA in Christian Education in 1988 from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, Louisiana. His Masters of Divinity was received in 1992 from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
He has served churches prior to the office he now holds for the conference. Those included First United Methodist Church in Pearland, First United Methodist Church in Teague, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kilgore and Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont.
Reverend Besser has been involved at the District and Conference level of the United Methodist Church, as well as many community involvements wherever he made his home. Many professional awards received are the result of his good work.
